If you’re a little new to the Facebook phone thing, HTC had announced the Salsa and ChaCha along with their Flyer tablet, at the MWC in February this year . Both the smartphones have a dedicated key to their in-built Facebook application which has features typical of Facebook, like posting on a friend’s wall, liking some pages on the web or even chatting with friends. Let’s have a look as to what the Salsa has in store.

The smartphone is powered by a 600 MHz processor and runs on the latest Gingerbread version which is Android 2.3, with HTC’s Sense User Interface running on top. The display is encased in Gorilla Glass and here’s what the Salsa boasts of:

  • 3.4-inch Capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • EDGE/GPRS
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP
  • 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • Secondary VGA camera
  • Stereo FM Radio with RDS
  • 3.5 mm audio jack
  • Memory expandable via Micro SD card up to 32 GB

The Salsa’s camera comes with features like Geo-tagging and face detection and will have all of Google’s bundled apps like Gmail, Maps, YouTube, Picasa and Google Talk. There’s other SNS integration, so Twitter users are not left out, either. The smartphone supports MP3, AAC+, WAV and WMA formats for audio and MP4 along with H.264 video formats.

So there’s quite some features and specifications that this handset has to offer, but the 600 MHz processor looks a little too low for that kind of a price.
