HTC to drop One M9 component orders by 30 percent: Report

The fiercely competitive smartphone market has compelled HTC to cut down orders for related components and parts for the One M9 as much as 30 percent. Citing sources at Taiwan’s handset supply chain, a DigiTimes report states the drop in orders is due to lower-than-expected sales One M9 in the end-market.

The **One M8** had received accolades for its design and overall performance too, but the One M9 has failed to woo audiences. The  sales of the One M9 have reportedly ‘fallen flat’ as its design is identical to its predecessor. Moreover, its hardware specs are also just comparable to other flagships available in the market, adds the report.

Besides, HTC is also facing competition from Chinese vendors like Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo and others, with entry-level to mid-range products that have been cutting into the comapny’s sales. HTC has introduced the M9+ to its high-end product line, but it is to be seen if the flagship models will complement each other, the sources further told the news site.

The HTC **One M9+** sports a 5.2-inch Quad HD display (1440 x 2560 resolution) with a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection and has a slightly modified design as compared to the HTC One M9. It sports dual-front speakers, but there is a button at the base of the HTC One M9+ which also works as a biometric authentication system. It comes with a 64-bit MediaTek MT6795T (Helio X10) SoC which has an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz.  It is paired with 3GB of RAM and comes with 32GB internal storage which can be expanded to 128GB via a microSD card slot. On the OS front, you get Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with HTC’s Sense UI 7 skin atop it. The HTC One M9+ features a 20.7MP rear camera and a 4 UltraPixel front facing camera. The rear side also has a depth sensing camera and the duo-camera setup is similar to the one seen on the HTC One M8. It is capable of shooting 4K videos.
