HTC T6 phablet with 5.9-inch display and Snapdragon 800 coming soon

Now that the HTC One has finally reached Indian shores, it’s time for the rumour mills to focus on the supposed HTC phablet.

Reportedly codenamed T6, the phablet’s alleged specs have been revealed by serial smartphone leaker EvLeaks. According to his report on TheUnlockr, the HTC T6 will have a 5.9-inch display, which will go toe-to-toe with the next-gen Galaxy Note. What’s more the leaked specs sheet says the display will have a full HD resolution. The design of the phablet will be more or less consistent with the One’s superb unibody aesthetic and the T6 will be clad in aluminium or an equally durable material.

Can the HTC One survive the maelstorm?

The T6 will share HTC One’s design language

In terms of processing power, the T6 will be powered by a Snapdragon 800 chipset MSM8974 with a 2.3GHz quad-core CPU, coupled with 2GB of RAM. Keeping with the large size of the display and the highly demanding processor, the smartphone will get a 3,300 mAh battery. Other niceties include the HTC BoomSound experience (with front stereo speakers, perhaps), and the HTC Ultrapixel camera with Optical Image Stabilisation.

HTC has prepared the T6 with the Galaxy Note series in mind and it will supposedly feature a dedicated stylus and a biometric fingerprint scanner around the back.

Interestingly, EvLeaks says it will also have a microSD slot, which has not been seen on a high-end HTC phone for a while. The top-of-the-line hardware will ship with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie with Sense UI on top. This particular spec aspect seems the most unlikely, given that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is most likely the next version update for the OS. As for when we can see the device in the market, the leak says that a mid-Q3 launch is to be expected.

All said and done, this is just mere speculation and nothing is confirmed till we get an official word from the company on the phablet.
