HTC promotional rap video tries to diss Samsung and Apple; but the joke is on HTC

HTC's new promotional rap video tries to diss Samsung and Apple, but ends up making a fool out of HTC

Taiwanese phone maker HTC is not really known to make promotional videos where it takes on its rivals. The only name that comes to mind when it comes to mocking rivals is that of Samsung. There have been many instances. But in a latest video uploaded by HTC America, it seems like HTC also wants to jump on that bandwagon.

The result is this rap video "Hold The Crown," by rap artist Doc G featuring David Bruce. Check it out for yourself.

We initially thought it was some fan-made video, till we saw it on HTC America's YouTube channel.

It is hilarious to say the least, specially with the amateur production quality. At least Samsung mock-up videos are well produced. The parts where you have the rappers wearing life-size models of HTC, Samsung and Apple phones and doing tasks such as weight lifting, free-hand exercises, pull-ups and so on is just ridiculous. There's even a shout-out to co-founder Peter Chou.

The video goes on to talk about the HTC One M8, which is a top end phone and was quite well received. But to talk about the phone's plus points in a rap video with a rhyming pattern heard above is apalling.

This is how HTC rappers diss Samsung, 'We own the universe, your galaxy is overrated,' and Apple's iPhone 6, 'It took you copy cats six times to get it right.' Will Samsung and Apple respond to this open challenge with a counter-rap? We will wait and watch.

The only other abomination which is still at the top when it comes to corporate rap videos is this one shot during the India launch of Samsung Galaxy S4.
