HTC One X+ with 1.7GHz quad-core Tegra 3 CPU announced

One of the hottest gadgets from HTC this year was the One X smartphone. HTC has now announced the HTC One X+. We reviewed the HTC One X, and found that it boasted of some state-of-the-art hardware, and had incredibly good looks to boot. Following in the footsteps of that handset, the HTC One X+ comes packed with hardware that can compete with the best in the business, or at least make the One X look early-2012. The design of both handsets is virtually the same.

The highlighted feature of the One X+ is a quad-core 1.7GHz quad-core Tegra 3 AP37  processor, which is faster than the quad-core 1.5GHz CPU found on the One X.  Its battery life was a concern for users of the HTC One X, and it appears that HTC has done well to rectify that. The One X+ is fitted with a 2,100mAh battery, which is larger than the 1,800mAh Lithium Polymer battery found on the handset’s predecessor. On the software fron, the HTC One X+ comes with the handset with Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean) and laced with HTC Sense 4+ user interface (UI).

According to the official announcement, HTC has stated, “The HTC One X+ combines the iconic design, amazing camera and authentic audio experience of the HTC One series, with increased performance, longer battery life and expanded internal storage which is now 64GB”.

Elaborating on the features of the HTC One X+, the brand states, “Featuring a 1.7 GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP37 processor and 64GB of internal storage, the HTC One X+ LTE version is up to 67% faster than the HTC One X1 LTE, making the HTC One X+ the best rated Android phone on the market. Developed to be lightning fast, the HTC One X+ enables quicker web browsing, fluid gaming and graphic rendering, and speedy downloads, providing effortless usage on the go. In addition to its increased performance speeds, the HTC One X+ introduces extended performance with the inclusion of a 2100 mAh battery, giving you up to 50% (6 hours) more talk time, and longer to browse the web and enjoy your favorite music and videos.”

Here is a quick look at the highlighted features of the HTC One X +:

  • 4.7-inch display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution
  • LTE, 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi (Hot spot), Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA

Sightseeing mode ensures users will be ready to capture images by using a single touch of the power button which bypasses the lock screen and launches directly into the camera. Two new views in Gallery display images and videos and group them according to where and when they were taken.

“We are taking the HTC One X to a new level with the introduction of the new HTC One X+,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation. “Our customers will have super-fast browsing, an even better camera and more immersive entertainment with Beats Audio.”

A new feature in the HTC One X+ is HTC Get Started, a new web service that guides the user easily through the set-up and personalisation process from a desktop web browser.
