HTC One S will not be getting Android 4.2 and Sense 5

HTC has announced through its French Facebook page that its last year’s handset—the One S—will not be getting the latest version of Android, numbered at 4.2.2. Along with the lack of the latest version of Jelly Bean, the One S will also miss out on getting the new version of the Sense UI that we saw in the company’s most recent flagship—the One. The One S currently runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with a layer of HTC’s Sense 4+ UI on top.

Android update nazi says: NO UPDATE FOR YOU!

As a refresher, the HTC One S features a unibody design. HTC also claims that the One S is scratch-resistant, so it should keep nasty smudges and scrape marks at bay. Under the hood, it runs on a 1.7GHz, dual-core processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon, depending on the region.  The One S comes with HTC’s ImageSense technology to help enhance the 8 megapixel camera quality and overall functionality. It can capture video in 1080p (at 30fps) full HD and the camcorder also features a slow-motion setting. Other features include face and smile detection, and continuous shooting.

Here’s a quick look at the specifications of HTC One S:

  • 4.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a 540 x 960 pixel resolution
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS and Wi-Fi (hot spot) + DLNA
  • GPS with A-GPS support for Google Maps and Locations
  • Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and USB 2.0 (Micro)
  • 8MP camera with LED flash and secondary camera up front
  • FM radio
  • 16GB internal memory
  • TV out via MHL

Because it’s missing out on the update to Sense, it will miss out on features like Zoe and the BlinkFeed.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
