HTC plans on rolling out a Gingerbread update for their Desire Z within the next couple of months.

HTC Desire Z to go Gingerbread Before End of June

The HTC Desire Z launched with FroYo and had supporters quite disappointed at the absence of Gingerbread out of the box. HTC was, we were sure, going to announce an update for the handset, since we all know it’s completely compatible with Gingerbread. The question was always – When could we expect it?

The answer, according to Eurodroid.com is – ‘before the end of June’. It seems that in a small quote on HTC’s UK support page, the company had posted a small snippet of information talking about how the Desire Z and  HTC Desire HD each designed to offer users unique mobile experiences and that the company designed these handsets to be optimised for different reasons.

So if you’re waiting for that official update, it’s not going to be anytime soon from the looks of it, but it’s not like a very specific date was announced either. So stay tuned to this space, when we hear of an official announcement you’ll be the first to know.
