A while ago, we told you about an HTC rep at MWC 2011 confirming that the Desire lineup will get Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates. That rep’s confirmation has now been confirmed, what with a test ROM for the HTC Desire HD being leaked into the wild today.

The update seems to be a work in progress, because the ROM is still being labeled ‘test’. However, HTC are once again showing that they’re leading the pack when it comes to swift Android updates. It will take a while for this update to become final and make it out, but they are showing some intent and taking action on that front, which will please the HTC owners no end.
You can download the ROM here, but do so at your own risk because details on what it does are sparse at best. You might end up bricking your phone, so be careful. Very careful.
