Wait, hold on! Don’t fling your HTC Desire just yet; the Taiwanese company has announced that they will be bringing Gingerbread to your beloved smartphone after all.

That’s some good news

That’s some good news

Yesterday, HTC UK’s Facebook post had a sorry story of how their engineering team was trying really hard to bring the latest flavour of Android on the Desire, but couldn’t accommodate both Gingerbread and HTC Sense on it, as it didn’t have the required memory onboard. Now they’ve posted saying that they will be bringing Gingerbread on the Desire, although there’s no mention of how will they achieve it. Probably our best bet is that the company might get an older (or lighter) version of their Sense user interface so as to make sufficient space for Gingerbread. Another option would be to just load Gingerbread out of the box without the User Interface, but chances of that happening is pretty much nil.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

It’ll be interesting to see how HTC will actually implement Gingerbread on the Desire. However, the good part is that all Desire users will have the latest Android and HTC probably deserves kudos for that.
