HTC has officially sent out invites for an event on April 12, where it is expected to unveil the HTC 10 smartphone. The company has announced there will be simultaneous events in New York, London and Taipei. The invite reportedly reads, “we admit it. We’re obsessed… but in a good way” along with the hashtag “#powerof10.”
In terms of hardware specifications, not much is known. But gathering information from the rumours, we can conclude that the One M10 aka Perfume would sport a 5.2-inch QHD display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC inside and a fingerprint reader on the front. The handset is expected to boot to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and run HTC’s Sense 8.0 UI.
According to HTC CFO Chialin Chang, the M10 will deliver a “very, very compelling camera experience". The camera unit as per a prior leak is expected to be a 12MP Sony IMX377, 1.55um sensor with laser autofocus, phase-detection and optical image stabilisation (OIS). The front facing camera is expected to be an UltraPixel 5MP unit.
Also, a report by a Bulgarian website revealed that the HTC 10 will come in four colours. The colours include black and white, white, gold, and black; all of which appear in leaked renders on the source’s website.
Recently, leaked renders came from tipster Evan Blass showing the smartphone from every angle possible. The design does seem familiar to past leaks of the One M10 and the currently available One A9, with the rounded glass front and the fingerprint reader at the bottom, but looking at the back, things have changed indeed.
The back now features a edgy design with large oversized chamfers that cut away from the edges of the display. Also visible on the back apart from the camera is the laser assisted focus that is coupled with the LED flash.
