HP launches Window 8 tablet for business users: ElitePad 900

Hewlett-Packard has officially introduced a new tablet aimed at business consumers, the HP ElitePad 900. A Windows 8 OS tablet, it is powered by an Intel “Atom Z2760” processor which is also known as the “Clover Trail”.

Hewlett-Packard has officially introduced a new tablet aimed at business consumers, the HP ElitePad 900. A Windows 8 OS tablet, it has an Intel “Atom Z2760” processor which is also known as the “Clover Trail” powering it.

Key features of the tablet include:

• A 10.1-inch diagonal display, and the tablet is 9.2 mm thin.

• It has a 1080p front-facing video camera and an 8 megapixel rear camera with an LED flash.

• The tablet has 2GB of RAM and up to 64GB of SSD storage. Intel claims the new Atom processor is tailored to work with Windows 8. Tablets that use both the Atom and Windows 8 will be able to run widely used software such as Word and Excel, and connect to peripherals such as printers thus making them ideal for business users.

It also lengthens battery life, enabling tablets to run 10-plus hours of streaming high-definition video, said Intel applications processor division chief Eric Reid at the official launch of the processors last week.

• It also comes with Smart Jackets, which add connectivity options such as keyboards, HDMI ports, USB ports, card readers etc. According to The Verge , HP will be releasing more smart jackets after launch to address particular industry usage models.

• The tablet has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and mobile broadband (for dongle) support.

• It allows users to switch between a pen, touch and voice input.

The HP ElitePad 900 will be launched in US market in January 2013. The price has not been announced yet.
