HP India launches a music service for its notebooks

HP India has launched HP Connected Music, a service that claims to give Indian consumers choice and access to global and regional digital music and content.

HP India launches a music service for its notebooks

HP India has launched HP Connected Music, a service that claims to give Indian consumers choice and access to global and regional digital music and content. HP India has joined forces with Universal Music India and Hungama.com to offer the subscription-based service, which provides downloadable music free of charge for one year. After a year, users can opt for a rental plan to continue using the service. The service is available on select HP notebooks with the imbedded Windows 8 launcher.

According to the company, the service has been introduced in India to provide HP customers exclusive content and access to Hungama.com and Universal Music’s catalogue, which the company claims includes over one million songs from more than 20,000 artists from different genres, including Bollywood, Devotional, Rock, Classic, Hip Hop, Jazz, Regional, R&B, and Country among others.

Speaking about the service, Ranjivjit Singh, Head of Marketing at HP PPS India said, “Our consumers have told us they want a seamless music experience while using their device and this is exactly what HP Connected Music provides. Through its subscription service, it allows people the chance to explore a whole new world of music and exclusive content, while using their HP device.”

The company claims that the service has been developed with portability in mind, as it will be bundled with HP’s upcoming crop of Windows 8 notebooks. Vinay Awasthi, Senior Director, Product Category, PPS, HP India said, “We are offering this service to the HP customers as an added entertainment value and every music lover will receive the latest music as soon as it hits the market. We want to give them a complete music package enhanced through HP Device features like Beats Audio.”

Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director, Universal Music India SAARC, echoed HP’s thoughts, saying_, “We are very proud to launch India’s first fully-inclusive music service on the PC for HP Connected Music, partnered with Hungama, to serve the customer with a never before music offering loaded with experiences for customer’s ultimate delight. The new HP connected music customer will have access to over one million tracks from 20,000 artists to make this offering the most comprehensive digital music service of them all.”_

Explaining the benefits of HP Connected Music, Neeraj Roy, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, said, “As we move towards a connected devices eco-system, a platform such as this will give consumers the convenience of an unlimited music subscription service. Our platform powers the HP Connected Music service, giving the consumer seamless one-click download, and the ability to connect with social communities. With our partners Universal Music, we want to create habit for consumption of legitimate music, by giving them a great product and user experience where they see value in the overall offering with all HP devices.”
