HP Chromebook 11 G5 announced, pricing starts at $189

HP has announced a new low-end Chromebook dubbed the HP Chromebook 11 G5. The new laptop looks very ordinary but it is said to offer a 12 hour battery life and a touchscreen version which should take advantage of the recently announced Android app support feature on Chrome OS that is coming in the future.

According to HP, “Engineers at HP took feedback from teachers and students using Chromebooks in the real world to refine the next generation of devices. Specifically, they aimed to make the latest version of the thin and light Chromebook 11 G5 more durable and user-friendly for students than ever before.”

If you are concerend about the sepcs then you get an Intel Celeron N3060 Processor, an HP TrueVision HD webcam at 720p resolution, an option of 2GB or 4GB of RAM, storage options of either 16GB or 32GB. HP offers an an option between a 11.6-inch HD IPS 1366 x 768 Gorilla Glass touch screen or an 11.6-inch HD Anti-glare 1366 x 768 standard display. The touchscreen model offers 11 hours on a single charge, while the non-touch model whould offer about12 hours and 30 minutes of battery backup. Both the models also feature USB 3.1 ports, and a headphone jack.

The HP Chromebook 11 G5 will be available starting in July and start reaching retail stores in October. The company has not confirmed any info regarding the India launch. Prices of the laptop start from $189 (Rs 12,500 approx)
