Honor to bring the 'Face Unlock' feature in its Honor 7X smartphone via an OTA update

Honor 7X is priced at Rs 12,999 for the 32GB version and Rs 15,999 for the 64 GB version.

After Honor View 10 and Honor 9 Lite devices, Huwaei's sub-brand Honor is going to bring the "Face Unlock" feature in its Honor 7X smartphone. Honor 7X will soon receive an over-the-air (OTA) update for the "Face Unlock" feature, industry sources told IANS on Tuesday.

With this, the once-premium feature will now be available in all Honor smartphones across price points — Honor View 10, Honor 9 Lite and Honor 7X. Honor 7X is priced at Rs 12,999 for the 32GB version and Rs 15,999 for the 64 GB version. Launched in London in November, Honor has sold over 40 million Honor 7X units.

The Honor 7X gets the 5.93-inch full HD+ LCD display sporting a resolution of 2160x1080 pixels.  Inside, we get a Huawei-made HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC clocked at 2.36 GHz with an octa-core architecture. With what appears to be a capable SoC, Honor has paired 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage variants, all of which comes with expandable memory (up to 256 GB).

On the camera side of things, the Honor 7X features a 16 MP + 2 MP camera setup at the rear, while the 8 MP front-facing sensor gets a software-based portrait mode as it skips on the second camera that is available on the Honor 9i.
