Honda launches the Honda Accord Hybrid in India priced at Rs 37 Lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi

Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) today announced the brand new Accord Hybrid for India. The vehicle has one of the most fuel efficient hybrid systems in the world with a fuel economy of 23.1 kilometers per litre.  There are two motors packed under the hood, a Sport Hybrid Intelligent Multi Mode Drive (i-MMD) and a 2.0-liter i-VTEC Atkinson Cycle engine. The Advanced Compatibility engineering (ACE) reduces the amount of damage to the occupants and the vehicle in case of a frontal collision.  There is a Pedestrian Injury Mitigation Design as well, that minimises the damage caused to pedestrians in case of an accident. There is a camera on the passenger side mirror that streams video to a 7" touchscreen controller in the middle of the car. This is called the Honda LaneWatch blind-spot display. There are active cornering lights that boost the visibility of the car while it is navigating turns at night.  There is an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System, Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering, Hill Start Assist, and an Anti-Lock Breaking system on board. In case of an accident six airbags are deployed, two in the front, two on the sides, and two side curtain airbags. In the electric vehicle mode, only the energy from the on board lithium ion battery is used. In the Hybrid drive mode, the fuel engine shares duty with the battery engine to drive the motor, which adapts automatically and smartly to the road conditions.  The Engine driving mode uses fuel as the primary energy source. The Sport driving mode provides better acceleration by using the batteries to boost the electric motors. The Economy mode is for conservative fuel use. The vehicles are being imported from Thailand as completely built units.
