Home Ministry provides SC with a list of keywords associated with searching for child pornography and rape videos

After announcing a web portal for registering cybercrime complaints in real-time, the home ministry has reportedly informed the Supreme Court that it has identified and compiled a list of English keywords commonly used for searching child pornography and rape videos. [caption id=“attachment_4297767” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Cybercrime.[/caption] These keywords have also been shared with tech giants such as Google, Yahoo, Facebook, and Microsoft. This move has been taken after seeing a surge in cybercrimes such as financial extortion, blackmailing and circulating child pornography and rape videos. To tackle this rising problem of  child pornography  and rape videos online, a separate section on the website will be made where the crime videos can be uploaded anonymously so that further action can be taken. According to a Times of India  report , additional solicitor general Maninder Singh, appearing for the CBI and MHA said, “This portal is undergoing a security audit and has been deployed in a staging environment for testing and trial. It is expected to be operational very soon.” An earlier report by The Hindu had stated that the portal will become operational from 10 January onwards.
