Hero MotoCorp is scheduled to announce its latest version of the highly popular Splendor motorcycle in India on 14 July. The bike was showcased at the Auto Expo back in February this year and will be Hero’s first vehicle to be fully developed in-house after the recent split from Honda. The 2016 Hero Splendor iSmart 110 will come with new colour schemes and an all-new 110cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that can produce 8.9bhp of power and peak torque of 9Nm. According the the company, the new bike will offer 9 percent more power and 6 percent more fuel economy in comparison to the existing model. There are130mm drum brake upfront while the rear will get a 110mm unit. The company will also offer an optional front disc brake. It’ll also feature a new sporty analog-digital instrument console, black alloy wheels, refreshed headlamp and tail lamp and split rear body grab rails. The most prominent feature however will be the 4-speed gearbox which will get the famous i3S technology which is basically an auto start-stop function which shuts the engine when the bike is stationary and engaged in neutral. This helps in saving more fuel which in turn makes the bike more fuel efficient. According to Hero, the i3S technology will help to deliver 75-80 kmpl mileage on the new motorbike. Expect the the Splendor 110 iSmart to launch at a price of Rs 55,000.
