Samsung finally announced its flagship smartphone duo yesterday in New York. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ both come with a wide variety of features and this year Samsung has focused on the security aspect.
Today a traditional smartphone offers security by letting you keep a password, pin or a pattern. We have come down to the age when almost every smartphone today is coming with a fingerprint scanner as well. This also makes unlocking your devices quicker rather than typing in a password. Just place a finger, and its done.
But Samsung has added two more ways on its flagships so you dont even have to place a finger. If you remember the Galaxy Note 7 came with an iris scanner. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ both come with the same feature. The sensor is placed right above that curved display and it can scan the user's eyes to unlock the device.
Samsung has also added facial recognition as a way to unlock the device. Now this isn't new as this feature has been embedded in Android since the longest time, but Samsung has probably perfected it at scanning the user's face. You can say its like Windows Hello for your phone. But it isn't as secure as you think it is. This security method cannot be used to make payments and transactions. However this could be a good replacement for a fingerprint scanner since Samsung has placed it at an awkward position.
