Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft update brings friends list and levelling system

Shortly after kicking off the beta for its free-to-play Warcraft-based card game, Blizzard has released a patch that adds more features to the game. According to the Battle.net blog, the game—Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft—now has quests that can be completed to earn gold which can be used for purchasing new cards for your in-game deck.

The game now also has a levelling system where you can earn experience by playing games. The main benefit of levelling up is that the frequency at which you get new basic and Golden basic cards increases. While you gain experience for both winning and losing matches, winning will get you even more experience.

The card game will be free-to-play

Now you can play with friends!

Blizzard is also expanding on the game’s social aspects by adding a friends list. You can now add friends to the list, from where you can challenge them to duels. The friends list also lets you chat with friends.

Cards now have new frames that help make the visual distinction between them easier. There are also some new cards, as well as balance changes to some of the older cards.

In Hearthstone, players build card decks centred around one of nine Warcraft character classes and duel each other for fun, glory and the chance to win new cards.

Players play against each other over Battle.net. Players have the ability to create decks based on either magic or actual fighting, depending on their tastes, and both will be equally viable.

Beta testing for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is going on right now. The beta is available for iOS, Mac and PC.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns. see more
