A recent survey states that the majority of high-def owners in Japan have a Blu-ray player/recorder. So what does that translate to? Maybe it means the war is coming to an end. But let’s wait and see; Japan isn’t the only country in the world, and the study talked about recorders, not including PS3 sales.
According to gizmodo, 90 percent of high-def player sales were dominated by Blu-ray. That spells bad news for the HD DVD camp, though in other news we learn that Steven Hirsch, co-chairman of market leader Vivid Entertainment (any guesses what type of films they make?) still supports the boys in red. Why? It’s claimed production costs are cheaper for HD DVD!
