HCL ME tablets to come with iBrowser pre-installed

HCL ME tablets to come with iBrowser pre-installed

HCL Infosystems, Indian hardware, Services and ICT Systems Integration and Distribution Company, has partnered with ibibo Web Private Ltd for the pre installation of iBrowser on its tablet range. iBrowser comes from Tencent. The HCL ME U1 and HCL ME Y2 Android tablets are equipped with the iBrowser and now as part of the partnership it would be pre-installed on all future new tablet models from HCL in the future.

The iBrowser complements the HCL ME Tabs, which is powered by the latest Android OS v4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The browser provides easy and secure access to websites, including email, community sites, search and news. The HCL ME Y2 has full HD, Thinkfree Office Mobile, runs smoothly on a powerful Cortex A9 1Ghz processor and comes with a 1GB RAM. It has a 4,000mAH battery to deliver long hours of high definition audio and video playback.

Here is a quick look at the specifications of the HCL ME Y2 tablet:

  • 7-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth
  • 2 megapixel camera and 0.3 megapixel front facing camera
  • 8GB internal memory expandable via microSD
  • mini HDMI port

Commenting on the occasion Gautam Advani, EVP and Head, Mobility, HCL Infosystems Ltd. said, “The HCL ME U1 and Y2 have been very well received in the market and the demand continues to grow. The increasing requirement of on-the-go connectivity amongst Tablet users will further augment the demand for our Tabs.  iBrowser will enable our consumers to explore the latest cutting-edge experience of accessing internet with a fast, secure and user friendly mobile browser.”

Users of the tablets can exclusively access the ME App store which has over 15,000 applications capturing the latest and the best Android apps.

The HCL ME U1 is packed with High-performance Cortex A8 1GHz Processor, Multiple Connectivity options – USB port, Wifi and 3G USB Dongle and 7 inches 800x480 pixels Capacitive Touch Display. The U1 comes along with a Front Camera and 512 MB RAM, with an internal memory of 4GB expandable to 32GB. HCL ME U1 also has a full USB, mini USB and a Micro SD card slot. The tablet has a 3,600mAH battery.
