HCL Infosystems had launched its tablet PC ‘Me Tab X1’ in October last year at Rs 10,990.
The tech firm also said that it will participate in the tender for manufacturing Aakash 2, the enhanced version of the the world’s cheapest tablet PC, only at a “feasible” price.
“Government has done a good job with Aakash as it has got a whole lot of people on tablet PCs. We would love to participate (in the tender) and we are looking at it if it is feasible”.
“The tender is yet to come out with the specifications… But if it comes to prices which are not feasible, we will exit graciously,” HCL Infosystems Executive VP and Head (Mobility) Gautam Advani told reporters.
The second round of bidding for manufacturing of low-cost tablet PC ‘Aakash’ is expected to commence later this year. However, neither the timing of the tender nor the number of tablets to be supplied has been decided yet.
