Earlier this month, Facebook had rolled out hashtag support for the web version with an aim to indulge the user in more active conversations with people around the globe. It looks like the company has taken another step towards achieving that goal, as the hashtag support can now be used on the company's mobile apps for iOS and Android.
Hashtags allow you to join a conversation or even start a discussion thread on a topic that interests you the most. If you are still figuring out how hashtag feature works, here's a quick guide. Remember seeing #LIVTOT or #MCIMUN on the official banner of an EPL (English Premier League) game for Twitter last season? You can now use the same while putting up a status update about the game on Facebook. Once the status is up, you can click on the hashtag to view other updates and comments that have used the same term.

Hashtags now available on Facebook's mobile apps too
The mobile app for Facebook also comes with the related hashtag support, another feature that made its way to Twitter initially. This means if you search for a hashtag like #NBA, the app will pop up related hashtags like #NBADraft, #NBADraft2013 and many more. This makes sure that you don’t miss conversations parallel to your topic of discussions.
This is not the first time that Facebook has implemented features that has already been a hit on Twitter, its biggest rival in the social media market. Initially, the California-based company had come up with the profile tagging feature, which was initially available on Twitter. This feature allows the users to tag a profile to their status update. Later, it came up with the profile verification feature. This feature would paste a blue mark on the official page and the profile of well-known people and organisations.
