Hardware Skype Quality Set To Improve

Skype , since its move of making calls in the United States free till this year end has been in the news a lot. Their move in the United States has accelerated the hardware development of products that can utilize Skype’s network for VoIP calls. Though this is a good development, one of the major complaints has been the voice quality at times that these hardware products offer. The clarity that the softphone offers is far superior to the hardware solutions. Now all that is set to change. Global IP Sound, the company that powers Skype with its VoiceEngine PC codec has extended its deal with Skype and has allowed its products to be used with hardware products that run Skype. “Skype has clearly revolutionized global personal communications with its offering,” said GIPS’ president and CEO Gary Hermansen in a statement. “This latest step in our relationship helps to solidify this growing market by expanding the options for Skype-enabled hardware devices and the ability for consumers to have a consistent, high-quality user experience regardless of platform.”
