GTA V for PC, Wii U under consideration: Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto V promises to be one of the biggest games to be released next year. While the company has announced the release window for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, there was no sign of a release date for the PC and the Wii U version. According to Eurogamer , Rockstar is considering a Wii U version of the game. Rockstar boss Dan Houser told IGN that the Wii U and PC versions of the games are “up for consideration”.

Houser said, “The main thing is we are not… we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that’s on Apple we put something on Apple.” Considering the large amounts of sales that the Wii U is making, this could very well lead to a Wii U version. The lack of a PC version is puzzling, though, as except for the Stories games from the GTA III series and Chinatown Wars, every Grand Theft Auto game has seen a release on the PC.

Grand Theft Auto V is set to come out in spring 2013

The Wii U and PC versions are up for consideration

It was recently revealed that GTA V is set to have an inventory system, along with greater variety of missions in the game through a Q&A fans had with the developers . Rockstar is now promising greater mission variety in GTA V. One of the biggest complaints faced by GTA IV was that most of the missions consisted of driving to a location, killing your target, driving back to a safe location, and repeat. According to Rockstar, some missions in GTA V will feature one playable character, while others will feature two or three. The game will also follow an Ocean’s Eleven-type progression, where a lot of missions will be preparing for and pulling off complex heists.

The game will also feature a new inventory system. At the moment, each character has his own inventory and money, but the developers have explained that this is something the company normally addresses later in the development cycle, so the system could see a change before the game’s release.

Another interesting decision by Rockstar is in the form of having three playable characters that you can switch between at any moment. When asked if it is possible to complete the game using only one character, Rockstar said that it is not. The company has also said explicitly that there is no co-op gameplay in the main campaign.

When asked if features from the previous games will be making a come back, such as underwater areas, the developers said that GTA V will have a lot of underwater areas to explore. The developers have also mentioned that none of the characters from GTA III, Vice City, or San Andreas will be making an appearance, but characters from GTA IV might visit the city.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
