GPS enabled and Swim-proof Apple Watch Series 2 goes official starting at Rs 32,900

Along with the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple unveiled its new generation smartwatch today, the Apple Watch Series 2. The overall design looks very similar to its predecessor including a square watchface, a digital crown, a navigation button and swappable bands. However there are a few upgrades in design including a new water-resistant body which makes the watch swimproof and one can go as much as 50 meters. There is also the addition of a GPS chip which lets the watch utilise maps without the need of a phone. Of course you need to be paired with the iPhone to receive notifications or to send messages. On the inside there is a new upgraded processor called the S2. It is a dual-core processor which is said to be 50 percent faster than its predecessor and double the graphics performance capable of rendering 60fps on the tiny display. Speaking of which, the display is now 50 percent brighter and Apple claims that it offers 1000-nits of brightness. ![apple-watch-series-2-water](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/apple-watch-series-2-water.jpg) Of course it will rock the new watchOS3 which was announced earlier this year. It will include a host of apps including variety of fitness apps. There will also be a new app called ViewRanger which will utilise the GPS to guide you along your hikes and treks. Popular AR game Pokemon GO will also be available on the watch and players will have the ability to get stats and notifications on the watch itself. Coming down to the variants, Apple has kept the same casing standards. The cheapest version comes with an aluminum case followed by a stainless steel one. Instead of announcing a gold-version, this time there is a white-colored ceramic model for the ones who seek luxury. ![apple-watch-2-hero_01_0](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/apple-watch-2-hero_01_0.jpg) Apple also announced a special Nike+ version of the Apple Watch Series 2 marking the renewal of their partnership. This version features a sporty look with bright fluorescent colours and a perforated strap. This version is aimed at runners and people who like to workout regularly. The older version has been rebranded as the Apple Watch Series 1 and will now feature the new dual-core processor starting at $269. The aluminium sport version of the Apple Watch Series 2 as well as the Nike+ edition will start at $369. As far as the Indian pricing goes, the Apple Watch Series 1 is now priced at Rs 23, 900 while the Apple Watch Series 2 and the Nike+ edition start at Rs 32,900. The special ceramic edition will cost a whopping Rs 1,10,900. The new watches will arrive with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on October 7.
