PM Modi’s pet project, Digital India , is set for the first phase of its outreach campaign. It’s an outreach campaign that aims at spreading awareness about Digital India. The campaign will be kickstarted by the Minister of Communications of Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad, according to a report by The Hindustan Times. In the first phase of the outreach campaign, according to the report , 16 vans will be sent out to 34 districts of nine states namely, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab and Rajasthan. It will end next month, but overall the government plans 66 vans to be rolled out covering 657 districts by 31 March 2017. These vans will be loaded with facilities to educate people about going digital such as audio-visuals, internet connectivity, educational material and more. All the information will be made available in 14 languages in all—Hindi, Marathi, English, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Manipuri, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Assamese, Bengali and Urdu. With this new initiative, the government is hoping to reach out to 10 lakh citizens and introduce them to services such as MyGov, Digital Locker, Aadhaar and so on. It will work towards one of the prime features of the Digital India campaign which is deeper digital penetration in rural areas.
