GOQii launches new Band with reduced subscriptions, Health Services, NFC payments and more

GOQii, the fitness coaching platform that was launched in 2014, announced the second version of its band along with a host of new services and health related partnerships. The GOQii band 2.0, which comes free when you buy the subscriptions, will come with a reduced subscription rate of Rs 1999 for 3 months, Rs 2999 for 6 months and Rs 3999 for 12 months. The new GOQii band offers a thinner design, larger OLED display and has an integrated charger on the tracker itself, which can be plugged into any USB charging port. This means that you do not need to carry around a separate charging module for the tracker, which is a relief. The new GOQii band comes with a larger battery which GOQii claims runs for 2 weeks on a single charge. The tracker will also offer automatic sleep detection along with third party app integration which will let the wearer known about calls, SMSes, Emails, WhatsApp notifications and so on. Axis Active Apart from this, the Band 2.0 also supports NFC and GOQii has tied up with Axis Bank to offer Axis Active, which is an NFC payments solution. “As long as you have an account on Axis Bank, you can use the GOQii Band 2.0 to make payments at over 1 lakh merchant establishments across the country,” said founder and CEO of GOQii, Vishal Gondal. According to RBI regulations pin-less transactions of Rs 2000 are allowed, and using the GOQii Band with NFC-supported POS terminals, you can make around five transactions of up to Rs 2000 each. GOQii Health services The release of the Band 2.0 was also accompanied by more major announcements that GOQii made. For starters, with your GOQii subscription you will now also get a GOQii doctor, a qualified physician with at least an MBBS/MD degree, whom you can consult if you are having some lifestyle related issue. This consultation will be included in the GOQii subscription. The GOQii doctors will not be a replacement for your regular physicians and cannot be consulted for emergency medical or critical situations. To expand on its health offering, GOQii also announced a partnership with Thyrocare and Max Healthcare Hospitals. This allows you to share your diagnostics report from Thyrocare reports with the GOQii health team. GOQii doctors can also refer you to consult specialists in Max Healthcare hospitals in case your situation requires medical attention. GOQii will also have a GOQii Health Locker which will let users keep all their medical documents in one secure location. This data can also be shared with GOQii doctors or coaches or mailed to your family or friends. Based on the lab records, prescription history and so on, you could get customised inputs from the coaches or doctors. GOQii is also providing users with the Health Risk Assessment (HRA) which will show you at a glance the health risks and your quality of life based on a your health data. This will further help you to reassign your health goals. The GOQii app will also be revamped and will be available on the Google Play Store as well as on the Apple store on 5 August.
