Google is reported to be working on a pair of glasses that will eliminate the need for users to constantly whip out their phones for fragmented pieces of information at a time. According to the New York Times, Google is working on a pair of glasses that will stream information to a user's eyes in real time. The glasses will go on sale towards the end of this year, say people who are familiar with the matter. The glasses will be Android-based (of course), will have 3G and Wi-Fi capabilities, motion sensors and GPS, a low resolution built-in camera, will utilize augmented reality and will be able to send data to the cloud. The glasses will also utilize Google services, like Latitude, Maps and appropriately, Goggles.

The glasses are rumoured to cost like a smartphone would, so users can expect a price tag of anywhere from $250 (Rs.12,313.85 approx) to $600 (Rs.29,553.05). The navigation system that the glasses will use is said to work based on gestures of the user's head. The user will tilt their head to scroll and click. The glasses are not designed to be worn constantly, but it can be surmised that 'nerds' will sport the glasses quite frequently. Google acknowledges that there might be privacy issues with an in-built camera. If the glasses wearing individual is clicking another person, that person should have a way of knowing they're being photographed. Google is reportedly working on a way around that.
The camera will be able to take pictures, add information, including location information to the pictures taken, work with Google Goggles to deliver information to the user on what is being looked at and also deliver information on surrounding buildings and friends. The glasses are being developed at Google's X offices, which are near its main headquarters in California. The X offices are filled with futuristic projects that Google is working on, including robots and space elevators.
