Google Search for iOS users has been given a new design. iOS has brought in a similar appearance to Android Lollipop’s Material Design along with many new features and optimisation for the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It has been customised to fit images on to a bigger screen in Google search. Just yesterday, the
YouTube app was updated
with material design and search filters. It must be pointed out that this is the first major design change the app has received in the past year.
In a
blog post
, the company announced that apart from the design update, there are three major updates which include Recents, Google Maps integration and independent Google button. Recents’ is similar to the multitasking toolbar in Android Lollipop. It works as an app switcher creating vertical carousel for recently viewed websites. With Google Maps, users can now directly search within the app without leaving it. They can also open up Search View, though this feature is not available in India. The new Google button at the bottom of the page allows users to search with just one tap anywhere in the app. All iOS users should have received the update by now.
