Google unveils Chromebook Pixel 2015, will be available on its new online store

After two years, Google has announced the new version of the  **Chromebook Pixel** . The all-new Chromebook Pixel doesn’t come with a design overhaul, but the company has dropped the price as it now starts at $999.

The new Pixel is available in two variants. Firstly, the $999 Core i5 (2.2 GHz Broadwell-U) version features 8GB of RAM (up from 4GB seen in the original) and 32GB SSD. The second is the $1,299 Core i7 “LS” (ludicrous speed) version (2.4 GHz Broadwell-U) featuring 16GB of RAM and 64GB SSD. Both machines come equipped with Intel’s HD Graphics 5500 GPU and are Wi-Fi only. No LTE  option, this time. It retains the same keyboard and also the 2560 x 1700 12.95-inch touchscreen display with a pixel density that goes up to 239 ppi. The Pixel launches with the new standard for charging called USB Type C which we saw in the new MacBook. “Not only does Type-C enable multi-device charging, but it also allows high-speed data and display over the same connector and cable. It’s small enough to work with smartphones, powerful enough to charge computers, and conveniently symmetrical,” Google explains in its official blog. For now, the new Pixel models are available only in the US via Google’s new online hardware store. The latest Google devices can be purchased at the new Google store.
