Google has launched of Google Translate translation service for Hindi that enables automated translation between Hindi and English.
If users need to translate some text, a web page, or issue a query in Hindi and have results translated from English, they can do it at: http://www.google.com/translate_t . Of the total literate Indian population, only about 13% are English literate.
This launch is the latest in a series of updates that are all focused on making it easier for multi-lingual users in India.
Google’s made it real simple. Users need to only type in the word as it sounds using their regular keyboard. For example, type “mera” using regular English characters, hit the space bar, and it’ll get converted to the corresponding Hindi word. Users can also add an iGoogle gadget to their home page to do the same thing. This service is available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Apart from this users can also scrap their friends on Orkut and create and update their own blog in these five languages.
