After Samsung’s Galaxy Gear and Sony’s SmartWatch 2, Google could be the next the big tech company to release a smartwatch and this release could take place along with the launch of the Nexus 5.
According to a post on_ Android Police’s_ Artem Russakovskii’s Google plus page, the smartwatch will be called Gem, will run Android 4.4 KitKat and be announced on 31 October along with the release of the Nexus 5 smartphone.
Russakovskii however said that the date has been leaked to him a month back and that it was likely that Google could have changed it.

Previously Wall Street Journal had reported that Google was working on its very own smartwatch and an Android-based gaming console, citing sources familiar with the company.
A patent of Google’s upcoming wristwatch was also spotted online, which highlighted that the watch would have a processor, Wi-Fi connectivity, a possible flip-cover and a touch-based screen. The patent also indicates that the smartwatch could have a possible camera.
