Google has been pretty open about its ties with the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie that will hit theatres next year. We have a whole new layout for fans as well that is being brought out by Google with its ‘Choose your side’ campaign. But there’s one more thing that Google tweaked to deliver a Star Wars experience and that appears in a place where almost everyone online visits more than twice a day, Google Search. Just head to the Google Search page, enter “A long time ago in a galaxy far far away” and you will witness the “the greatest search result page ever” in the form of the opening credits that scroll at the beginning of the Star Wars movie. Coming to the choose your side campaign, there is plenty to check out. Once you log on to https://www.google.com/starwars/
you will be greeted with a campaign page that will ask you sign into your personal Google account.
After that, will have to make a very tough decision and choose between the ‘light side’ or the ‘dark side’. Once you have made your choice, you will notice plenty of themes (depending on the chosen ‘side’) appear in your Gmail inbox, Google Maps (navigational arrow turns into a TIE fighter or an X-wing), themed Calendar visuals and more across all of their services. One thing to note is that this only works for personal Google accounts and the easter egg in the search result is not a theme, but works just for the search query mentioned above.
