U.S government search, the new Google site will allow you to look up any federal employee with the US government, all related government agencies and will help you navigate you through the complicated cross connected bureaucracy with ease. The site is customizable, like the Google homepage and includes categories like White House News, American Forces Information Services, Weather for Washington D.C, and Headlines from Government Executive Magazine. The search site is aimed at government employees, contractors, the public and includes local government Web sites with the .gov and .mil domains as well as sites with the .com, .us, and .edu domains to widen that search to the entire Internet. The official US government portal, firstgov.gov is powered by Google’s competitor, Microsoft MSN’s search and Vivisimo. Now Google has come up with a search engine for the US government which shows results, including many state Web sites as well as federal ones, offering a layered look at a single topic. Kevin Gough, product manager for Google U.S. Government Search told the press that Google is likely to create government search sites for other countries too. He said, “We’re a global country and government search is relevant for all our markets.” However, he did not specify which countries Google will be targeting next.
