Google, Samsung and others: How tech companies turned into pranksters on April Fools' Day

It is on 1 April aka Fools’ Day that tech companies let down their hair and show off the fun side. This year has been no different. While some pranks have managed to tickle the funny bone, some (read Google) have backfired. Here are some cool pranks that caught our attention. Google Google is known to put in considerable time and efforts when designing April Fools’ pranks. This year, Google’s Fools’ Day products include the Cardboard Plastic, a fully immersive and lightweight viewer that is waterproof with 360 degree viewing and works with all apps. ‘Realer than reality’, says Samsung, and it is nothing but watching the content in actual reality.

While this one seems to be one of the best pranks so far, another Gmail feature prank called Drop Mic has simply backfired. The ‘Send + Mic Drop‘ button in Gmail for web, something that we won’t really mind if turns into reality, has just backfired. Many people have taken to Twitter venting out complaining how the prank made them lose their jobs. ![Gmail Mic Drop_Send](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Gmail-Mic-Drop_Send.gif) And if you think, you can search for emojis in Google Photos, then let us tell you that’s another classic prank from the online prankster. https://twitter.com/googlephotos/status/715660027101458433 Google has also decided to take a spin on drone delivery service that everyone seems to be so excited about. Companies are still testing drone delivery with no concrete solution yet, so Google decided how about some parachutes doing that for you.

Samsung ![sam_trousers](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/sam_trousers.jpg) IoT is another platform that is meant to grow by manifolds and Samsung just made it all the more fun with its new Internet of Trousers prank. The company has issued a press release for this high-end smart pants with features like Wi-Fly that alerts users if their trouser is unzipped for more than three minutes. It has pressure sensors that alert users if they have been inactive for a long time and need to get up and take a walk. And what would make you go in splits is the Fridge lock mode that is an embedded ARTIK chip module sending signals to your refrigerator to prevent you from overeating. Asus Asus also got into a prankster mode by tweeting out a ZenfoneMax to charge your electric car. A.C.T poweres up any electric car, Asus tweet read. https://twitter.com/ASUS/status/715577937152516096 Stylus or pen or pencil, whatever you want to call it, has been making some news lately and here’s the Lookup pen that takes it a step further. In case you want to pre-order it at Rs 1,416. Well, just watch the video below:

And the fun doesn’t end here as we can expect more pranks throughout the day. We will keep adding to the list as and when we come across a fun prank by a tech company.
