Google said to be working on in-house Android Wear smartwatches

After giving us a scoop on the upcoming Nexus smartphones , Android Police has yet again spilled the beans about another Google project. This time it is being said that Google is working on its own Android Wear smartwatch and not just one, but two versions of it. According to the source, the new smartwatches will be Nexus branded and will be released sometime after the Nexus smartphones are revealed. One of them will be larger with a sporty look and would be feature packed with LTE, GPS, heart rate, etc. The other one will be smaller and won’t offer mobile data and GPS. Both the smartwatches will however offer Google Assistant integration which was announced at Google I/O this year. Having a confidence level of 9 out of 10, the source says that both watches will come with circular displays, but thankfully no flat tire. The larger version is said to be code-named Angelfish which will be similar to the current Moto 360 and LG’s Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, but will have a distinct look. It will have lugs and a smooth housing shape that curves where the watch band meets the body. There will be three buttons; one large circular crown button with two smaller and shorter circular buttons above and below it. The diameter is said to be 43.5mm which is smaller than the 46mm Moto 360, larger than the standard 42mm edition. It will come in matte dark gray finish called titanium with no other confirmation of colour options. There is a possibility that this model could be used as a standalone smartwatch as Google announced standalone Wear apps at I/O with with Wear 2.0 update. The second model will be a more sleek version codenamed Swordfish. This one would be similar to the Pebble Time Round without the large screen bezel. It will have a single button on the right-hand side having a finish similar to Apple Watch’s crown. Swordfish will be smaller and thinner than Angelfish with a diameter of 42mm and a thickness of just 10.6mm - 0.8mm thinner than the current Moto 360. Expect more info to leak in the coming days.
