India has been a strong market for Samsung, for sometime now. But looks like he Note 7 fiasco hasn’t just benefited its arch-rival Apple, but also Google. According to an Economic Times report, Google has managed to capture 10 percent of the premium smartphone segment, which means the Pixel smartphones got a good head-start. The report explains that Google has shipped 33,000 units of the Pixel to India till the end of October. This gave it the third spot in the phone segment that costs more than Rs 30,000. In October, Apple enjoyed 66 percent market share while Samsung fell to 23 percent. Google ensured it isn’t late to the party and its new Made by Google phone didn’t take too long to reach the Indian shores. The device was available for pre-order in early October with exchange offers and no-cost EMIs, and by 25 October it went on sale . A Google India spokesperson told the news site, “We are very enthused by the feedback from Indian customers and the initial response for Pixel has been extremely positive and in line with our expectations. Pixel is Google’s take on the total user experience as we envision it — bringing the best of Google’s software, such as the Google Assistant, with hardware that really brings the experience to life.” In terms of specs, the Pixel brings a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display and the larger Pixel XL comes with a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display. The Pixel gets a smaller 2,770mAH battery while the larger one gets a 3,450mAH battery. The devices sport an aluminium and glass build and the 12.3MP camera has been given a rating of 89 on DXoMark which is the highest on any smartphone camera. The camera features an f/2.0 aperture with the sensor producing large 1.55μm pixels. For people who want to switch from an Apple device, Google s also offering a seamless transfer tool along with an adapter. It will make it easier to move contacts, calendar, photos, videos, music, SMS messages, iMessages and more. The list of specs also includes a Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor with 2.15GHz clock speed, 4GB of RAM, 32GB and 128GB fixed storage options, a 12.3MP rear camera with phase detection and laser guided autofocus and an LED flash, an 8MP front camera with an f/2.4 aperture, USB Type-C and a fingerprint scanner.
