Google Now to be split up into 'Feed' and 'Upcoming' tabs

Google Now is the feature in Google search which throws up informative cards even before you ask for them, based on your location, time of the day and other parameters. The feature is now set to get an update. It will be split up into two tabs, one focussing on the news stories and the other focussing on upcoming events. So far the Now screen shows a mix of news updates as well as personal event updates, all within a single scrollable screen. The personally relevant events such as birthdays, weather, your favourite football team’s upcoming matches and so on, are placed at the top and as you scroll down, you come across the news feed. But now instead of having all this information on one screen, Google has decided to split the Now homescreen into two tabs. ![Upcoming](http://tech.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Upcoming.jpg) The tab on the left hand side will be called Feed and it will show you the news stories you would be interested in based on your search history and the kind of data you consume online. The tab on the right hand side will be called Upcoming, which will have your personally relevant event entries. This feature is rolling out in the Google App on Android in the US and will gradually be available in other regions. The iOS update is also expected to come out soon. This isn’t a brand new feature, but more of a rearrangement of what was already present in the Google App. So if you just want to track that package or want to know what time you need to depart for the airport, you simply tap on the Upcoming tab. The Feed results are based on your search history and not based on your social graphs, like it is with Facebook news feed.
