Two days ago Amazon dropped the price of the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD , and now Google’s Nexus 7 (2012 model) too has a price cut. Some online retailers are now selling the 16GB Wi-Fi Nexus 7 for Rs 9999. While Amazon.in now shows “out of stock”, it is still selling on Flipkart for the new sub-10,000 price. The 32GB version of the Nexus 7 also gets a price drop and is available of Rs 13,999. Earlier in July online retailer Amazon had listed the 16GB variant of the tablet at Rs 11, 999.

Does this mean the new 2013 model or what is known as the refreshed Nexus 7 is coming to India soon? Is the company trying to make room for the new version of the tablet? It should be noted that the 16GB Wi-Fi Nexus 7 still shows the same price of Rs 15,999 on the Google Play store.

Talking about the revamped Nexus 7 (2013), the major differences start right from the dimensions, with the new tablet being 2 mm thinner and 50 g lighter than the older variant. The display has also seen some major work done, with the sleeker tablet coming with a 1920 x 1200 resolution and a 323 ppi pixel density. And if that wasn’t enough, the 7-point touch IPS panel is not only scratch-resistant, but also will be fingerprint smudge resistant. The new tablet will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC, which sports four Krait cores clocked at 1.5GHz. Also thrown in is an Adreno 320 GPU, as well as 2GB of RAM. The specs also include a 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.2 megapixel front shooter, and support for Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and dual-band Wi-Fi capabilities.
