Google might be working on a Guest mode for Android

Google might be planning to add better privacy features to Android on phones, including an Incognito mode and a Guest mode. Such a Guest mode would let you use your phone without Google being able to track any of your information. It will also prove beneficial if you have to let someone else use your phone, but don’t want them to look at any of your private details.

Might be receiving guests soon

Sundar Pichai, the man who heads Android and Chrome at Google, said at the Wall Street Journal’s D11 technology conference that Google may consider adding a feature similar to Chrome’s Incognito mode to Android. “When we did Chrome, we did a full incognito mode. That’s one example. But we do want more things like that. There’s a lot of things from a security standpoint, from a perspective of children and parents. There’s no reason we can’t do something like guest accounts on Android,” he said.

Users can currently use incognito mode to browse the Internet from within Chrome for Android, but a guest account would make things much easier. Currently, the latest version of Android, Jelly Bean 4.2.2, lets tablet users set up multiple accounts so people can easily share their devices without having to worry about privacy. Each account syncs its own mail, messages, apps and contacts, leaving any other accounts’ data inaccessible.

Although Android 4.2.2’s multiple accounts feature is only meant for tablets, you can get it on your smartphone by installing custom ROMs such as ParanoidAndroid or AOKP. However, a dedicated guest mode would still be great, as you wouldn’t have to sign-up for another account just to get some porn privacy.
