Google Keep updated with location and time-based reminders

Google Keep, the search giant’s very own note-taking application has received an update. Erin Rosenthal, Product Manager at Google confirms in a post that for starters, the updated app includes the goodness of Google Now, and together they will remind you of important tasks and errands at the right time and place. Keep will work with Google Now to quickly remind of your grocery list when you walk into the store and about your other important commitments too.

To initiate it, select the “Remind me” button visible at the bottom of any note and choose the type of reminder you want to add. Keep users can either add time-based reminders for a specific date and time, or a more general time of day, like tomorrow morning. Location-based reminders can be added too; as soon as you start typing the app will suggest names of nearby places. If you’re not ready to act upon a reminder right away, you can snooze it to a later time.

The list-making and note-keeping app can be used to quickly jot your idea down as and when you think of them. You can take notes on Google Keep as well as add images and check lists to your to-do. You can even speak into your phone and have Google Keep transcribe it as a note.

The updated app also features a new navigation drawer now that can be used to get all notes and reminders. It also lets you switch between accounts.

Google also claims to have made it simpler now for you to add your existing photos to a Keep note on Android. Upon tapping the camera icon you can either capture a new photo or add an existing one from Gallery.

The update is being rolled out gradually to the Play store, so don’t fret if you do not see it right away. As for its web users, the update is live already at http://drive.google.com/keep and in the Chrome App.
