Google I/O 2017: Google Photos update makes sharing easier, offers physical photo books

At the **first and exciting day** of Google I/O 2017, we heard that Google Photos is becoming one of the largest platforms. It has hit a big milestone and is now being used by about 500 million users every month. To mark the achievement, Google announced a new update for Photos which includes a bunch of new features. One of them is a social feature called Suggested Sharing. This is step ahead of Google’s facial recognition mechanisms that have been around for a while. The app can now suggest which photo(s) you should share with your friends and family. The feature is similar to the one on Facebook’s standalone private sharing app, **Moments** . The Photos app will be able to identify the contacts that are in your photos and will then prompt you to share your photos with them. This notification also pops up shortly after you take a photo and once you respond, it automatically shares the photo with the people that it has identified. In case they don’t have the Google Photos app, it can send an SMS notification.    To make this a bit more easy, the ‘Shared Libraries’ feature will let users automatically share all or a certain selection of photos with specified people. So now you finally say goodbye to those pesky requests for those pictures you took at the last party. Once you turn this setting on, it will automatically share photos with the designated contacts. If you don’t want to share all of your pictures, you can choose to turn on a feature which will only share photos containing a particular contact.  Lastly, Google want’s you to print your photos. The Photos app will now suggest some of your best shots and offer you to get them printed as a photo books. Google announced that it will offer a 7-inch softcover or a 9-inch hardcover book each of which can have about 40 photos selected by the app. The softcover will cost $9.99 (Rs 650 approx) and the hardcover will cost $19.99 (Rs 1,300 approx). By default it will come with 20 pages and each additional page will cost an extra $0.35 (Rs 23 approx) for softcover books, and $0.65 (Rs 43 approx) on hardcover books. The new Google Photos update will roll-out to Android as well as iOS devices.
