Google India to open new cloud region in Mumbai, to go live next year

Google India has announced that it will be opening a new cloud region in Mumbai. The local cloud region is aimed at providing Google Cloud Platform services to consumers from enterprise sector and developers in the country. Google Cloud Platform is a newly rebranded set of services previously known as Google enterprise platform. The cloud region is located in Mumbai and will go live in 2017. The investment by the company to set up a local cloud region demonstrates its commitment to Indian consumers to provide better and faster services. This is to tackle the recent announcement of opening **data centres announced in India by Amazon Web Services** . Major enterprises and brands in the country like Wipro, Ashoka, Leyland, Smartshift by Mahindra and Mahindra, INshorts.com and Dainik Bhaskar Group are leveraging the power of Google Cloud Platform. In addition, International brands like Niantic Labs, Snap Inc (formerly SnapChat) and Evernote are powered by Google Cloud Platform. “By expanding to new regions, we deliver higher performance to customers. In fact, our recent expansion in Oregon resulted in up to 80% improvement in latency for customers. We look forward to welcoming customers to our new Cloud Regions as they become publicly available throughout 2017,” added Brian Stevens, the Vice President of Google Cloud while talking at Horizon, an event held in San Francisco. The company announced the details about India Cloud Region at Horizon during the **launch of Google Cloud** and G Suite (formerly known as Google Apps for Work.) Google is focusing on providing a platform powered by machine learning and networking services to enable Indian developers and startups to build high-performance apps and data analysis tools at low cost. The platform is stacked with tools to help these companies right from the start of developing the apps to testing and deployment.
