Google Home and Home Mini's India launch imminent as the products get listed on Flipkart

Google had confirmed on 2 April via a tweet that it will be bringing the Google Home smart speaker to India. However, what was not known was when Google planned to unveil the Google Home in India.

Online reports indicate that Google has an event scheduled on 10 April. Now the chances are quite high that Google will announce the Google Home smart speaker at that event as Flipkart has now listed two variants of the smart speakers on its e-commerce website. The two variants are Google Home and Home Mini speakers. You can register on the Flipkart app to get inside updates on the launch date and offers.

The pricing for the Indian market is yet not known. In the US, the Google Home Mini sells for $49 (Rs 3,200 approx) and the Google Home sells for $129 (Rs 8,400 approx). The only difference between the Home and Home Mini is to do with the speaker. The smart features are the same on both the devices.

This will be the second major brand to release its smart speakers in the Indian market since the Amazon Echo line of products — Echo Plus, Echo Dot and Echo — launched in India in October 2017.

Amazon’s Alexa can definitely understand Indian accents quite well, but it still does not understand or speak Hindi. So a support for Hindi will be a definite advantage for Google when it launches Home or Home Mini.
