Google has sold 30 million Chromecast till date

Ever since the launch of the first Chromecast in 2013, Google has managed to sell 30 million units of the streaming device.

Media streaming devices are a pretty good way to convert your boring screens into a more lively and feature rich media center and it wasn’t until Google launched the Chromecast in 2013. Of course there are many other streaming devices out there, but the Chromecast has been one of most popular and in all honesty the most easy to use device.

Google had also announced the new and updated Chromecast, along with Chromecast Audio in September last year which, unlike the stick like design of the original Chromecast, had a circular form factor with a bendable and integrated HDMI cable. This was launched in India only this year with a price tag of Rs 3,399.

After the recent announcement of Alphabet Inc’s healthy revenue report card, Google announced that the Chromecast has reached a new milestone of 30 million units sold since its launch. Just back in May, the numbers stood at 25 million which means that in two months Google has managed to sell 5 million Chromecasts. Sounds impressive, but if we go back to May 2015, Google had managed to sell a total of 17 million units, which technically means that the growth rate has slowed down.
