Google launched the Pixel and the Pixel XL as its first in-house flagship smartphones last year. While the Pixel handsets have been one of the best Android smartphones around, Google hasn’t had the best luck with it. Certain units faced speaker and microphone issues and on top of that there have been stock issues. HTC makes the Pixel handsets for Google and according to the Taiwanese company, it has shipped more than 2.1 million units till date. This means a period of about six months as the smartphones started shipping in October last year. Comparing with Apple or Samsung, the numbers are quite low. However, if we consider how bad the Nexus sales were and how the Pixel range has been limited to certain regions, it is commendable that Google managed to sell this much. The next Pixel smartphone is still a few months away and hopefully by then a healthy number of units will be shipped. Speaking of which, the Pixel 2 is going to be made by HTC yet again. While these are just rumours, it is being said that the battle to make the second generation of the Pixel smartphone is being fought between LG, TCL and Coolpad. At this point it seems LG will come out as the potential winner and sales estimates are believed to be around 5 million units.
HTC has confirmed that it has shipped more than 2.1 million units of the Google Pixels.
