Google has finalised its acquisition deal with HTC; welcomes 2000 engineers to its hardware division

Google has announced that it has successfully finalised its acquisition deal with HTC worth $1.1 billion. [caption id=“attachment_4168239” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]The Google logo. Reuters. The Google logo. Reuters.[/caption] According to the deal, **HTC** will get money in exchange for giving Google access to its IP in addition to about 2000 engineers shifting to **Google** . The company signed the agreement back in September last year while claiming to **continue its “big bet on hardware”** . According to a blog post welcoming its “new teammates from HTC”, Google added that these engineers will join its hardware organisation to work on products that are better and more innovative in years to come. The blog post pointed out that HTC engineers were the first to bring a 3G smartphone back in 2005, first to bring a ‘touch-centric phone’ back in 2007 and first smartphone with ‘all-metal unibody’ back in 2013. The company clarified that this is the same team that has worked on the **Google Pixel** , Pixel XL, **Pixel 2** and Pixel 2 XL. The company also added that it will focus on its mission “to create radically helpful experiences for people around the world” by combining hardware, software and AI. Last but not the least, the company added that it will continue to build and invest for the long run.
