The Google I/O may be only tonight, but Google has already decided to make some pre-I/O announcements. With less than 24 hours for the I/O to kick off, the search giant has announced an update for Google Glass. In an o fficial Google+ post, the company has announced a new update for the device which will boost its RAM to 2GB. “With I/O about to kick off, we wanted to share some of the most recent improvements we’ll be rolling out,” adds the post. The upgraded hardware will ensure that Glass can handle more applications simultaneously. The upgraded hardware will begin shipping in the US as well as UK, wherever the Explorer Edition program went on sale on Tuesday. Google has also added an easier way to frame your shots with the viewfinder. “When you say “ok glass, show the viewfinder” you’ll see white L’s in the four corners of your Glass screen. You can then either take a photo by saying “ok glass, take a picture,” with a wink, or by pushing the camera button,” adds the blog. Besides, Glass users can also expect two new cards - one to remind you where you parked your car and and another to let you know when packages are coming your way." The company has also announced twelve new apps (one updated app) including Runtastic, Duolingo, The Guardian and more, just in time for the I/O. So, it is quite possible that Google could demonstrate some of these apps during the event. Earlier this year, the Explorer Edition was made available in the US as a **one-day limited offer** , but after a good response, it was made available to everyone in the US. Now, the company has taken a step towards expanding the reach of the Glass, which means we can expect the device to go global sooner rather than later. Moreover, it looks like Google is looking to turn Glass into a fashion accessory. It has already teamed up with DVF, fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg’s studio for its newest range of Google Glass designs. Google has also partnered with Luxottica, which means Ray-Ban and Oakley-branded frames and shades for the Glass should eventually surface. This would solve one of the most pressing practical problems of wearable tech - how to make it attractive for users and not merely clunky or geeky.
