Google Earth VR lets you explore the Earth as a size shifting celestial entity

Google Earth VR allows users to travel anywhere across the world, from the comfort of their homes.

Google Earth VR has launched for the HTC Vive on the Steam Store. Google Earth VR allows users to travel anywhere across the world, from the comfort of their homes. Exploring the Earth is a God like experience, you can fly across the planet like a bird over coastlines or cities, drop to the surface and explore through streets of, or trek across the Himalayas, with the mountains at your feet, as a giant tens of thousands of feet tall.

There are cinematic tours, as well as hand picked destinations. The hand picked destinations include the Amazon River, the Grand Canyon, the Swiss Alps, and Manhattan. There is a minimum requirement of 8 GB of RAM to run the application, and it is only available on Windows. Google Earth VR has been received well, with over 98 percent of the 200 plus reviews being positive. The experience is available for free.

StreetView is not integrated into the app though. There is no search for places, and you cannot enter co-ordinates after searching for a location in another app. The experience requires a constant internet connection, and the details in a view takes time to load, just like the regular Google Earth.

The App is the second VR app to release first for the Vive after Tilt Brush. Google Earth VR is expected to land on other platforms next year.
